Hemp Field Trial with Biochar and Beneficial Microbes

Hemp field trials with biochar and beneficial microbes were conducted at Ball Farms in Fletcher, North Carolina during the 2018 growing season.

NC State University Hemp Transplant Trial

Half the hemp clones in the field had CharGrow BioGranules™ included in the potting mix (at 2.5% by volume); the other half was treated with the same potting media just without the CharGrow. All the plants came from the same supplier (Shane Wilson, LL Hemp Farm) location and were treated the same in terms of clone cutting date, bumping up date to larger cells, fertilization, irrigation, etc.

• Ratings were assigned to each row, or raised bed, in the field. Not all raised beds were the same in terms of length and number of individual plants.
• Data were collected based on the how the majority of plants presented in each row in terms of vigor, disease, and flowering.
• The CharGrow was added to half the plants via the potting mix, NOT in each hole during transplant to the field. One application of CharGrow was applied to each plant.
