Probiotics for Plants
Growing results using CharGrow BioGranules
Our BioGranules™ product is a proprietary formula that evolved out of our work with organic potting soils, and the need to provide high concentrations of beneficial organisms in “peat lite” growing media.
Field trials with BioGranules™ have shown better plant productivity when added at 2-3% by volume (in growing mixes) or 15 – 20 lbs. per acre in row crops.
Healthy transplants reduce production costs
BioGranule inoculated transplants were greener and approximately 25% taller at field setting than control plants. Shortening the time required to produce healthy transplants reduces production costs.
Earlier fruiting, increased profits
Earlier fruiting yield was increased by 51% in BioGranule inoculated plants, compared to non-inoculated plants. Earlier fruiting normally results in increased profits, especially for growers in northern short-season climates.
Nutrient retention, environmental benefits
Trial results demonstrated longer-term flower color retention (in Vincas) and reduced nutrient runoff, measured by soluble salts and nitrate-N analyses.

Tomato Transplants
Over 3 years of tomato trials, BioGranules was used at 2.5 Cups per 5 Gallons of potting soil (approx. 3% by volume).
RESULTS
- 25% taller at field setting
- 51% increase in yield at 1st pick
- 10% increase in yield across growing season

Vinca & Hibiscus
In trials with hibiscus and vinca, BioGranules was incorporated at 20 LBS per Cubic Yard.
RESULTS
- Increased nitrate retention
- Reduced nutrient runoff
- Longer-term flower color retention
- Significantly improved plant growth

Trees and Shrubs: Mix 3 cups BioGranules per cu. ft. of soil from the planting hole. Place mixture into hole at 6-inch depth. Place tree or shrub into planting hole and fill with remainder of mix.
Flower Beds: Incorporate 3 cups BioGranules per cu. ft. of soil from the planting hole.
Area Application Rates
Vegetable Gardens: Apply 2 tablespoons of BioGranules per square foot (1 lb. per 100 square feet) of planting area or apply a pinch of BioGranules with each seed. Work into top 4 – 6 inches of soil; add seed or transplant, and water in.
Vegetable and Flower Transplants: Add 1⁄4 inch layer BioGranules to bottom of transplant hole.
Transplanting: At the time of transplant, use low salt amendments such as fish emulsion as starter fertilizer. Best results have been achieved where a cover crop is worked in prior to setting transplants.
Turfgrass: Apply 1 lb. of BioGranules per 100 square feet when seeding. Work into 4 inches of existing soil. Add seed, rake and water thoroughly.
Maintenance: Following aeration, dethatching or scarification, apply 1/2 lb. per 100 square feet and mix into the top 4 inches of soil. Water in.
